Biography
Anna Markova was born in 1985 in Kazakhstan and grew up in Belarus. She began violin lessons at the age of four in Karaganda and, due to her exceptional talent, was admitted at eleven to the State Music School for Gifted Children in Minsk. Early in her career, she won several national and international competitions, including first prize at the National Competition for Young String Players in Hrodna, Belarus (1999), third prize at the Delphic Games of the CIS in Bryansk, Russia (2002), and first prize at the International Elskij Competition in Minsk (2003). She performed as a soloist with the State Chamber and Symphony Orchestras of Belarus and, together with her duo partner Alexandr Muzykantau, won first prize at the inaugural J. Korsak Festival Chamber Music Competition in 2004.
Anna further refined her artistry through masterclasses with distinguished musicians including Anton Steck, Midori Seiler, Thomas Brandis, Jerome Pernoo, Gidon Kremer, and Pavel Vernikov. From 2004 to 2006, she studied at the State Music Academy in Minsk, performing regularly with the Russian ensemble The Pocket Symphony in Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as with the ensemble Kammersolisten Minsk in Belarus and Germany.
In 2006, Anna moved to Germany to pursue advanced studies, focusing on Baroque violin with Prof. Thomas Albert and modern violin with Prof. Thomas Klug adn Prof. Katrin Scholz (Berlin) at the University of the Arts Bremen. She completed her Master’s in Baroque Violin in 2015 (Master of Music in Early Music, Instrumental) and her Master’s in Violin in 2018 (Master of Music, Instrumental). In recent years, Anna has performed regularly as a professional orchestral musician in France and Germany, gaining experience in a wide range of repertoire and ensemble settings.

Anna is also passionate about chamber music, performing in ensembles from solo to septet, and she develops interdisciplinary projects combining music with literature and other arts. Notable programs include “Living Classics: Music & Poetry” with Russian reciter Gennady Kuznetsov, and “Erich Kästner – The 13 Months” with Bremen actor Benedikt Vermeer, featuring improvisations and original compositions by Anna.
Her career has taken her across Europe and beyond, including Germany, Russia, Belarus, Italy, Brazil, Greece, Belgium, France, Lithuania, Switzerland, Spain, and the Netherlands.
